I'm giving out awards to the cable channels for their coverage of the capture of Brian Nichols, suspect in the Atlanta courthouse shootings. All this, just in the last 15 minutes:
REPORTING THE OBVIOUS
Fox News: "When you get someone who is that backed into a corner, they can act in a very extreme way."
THE NOV. 3, 1979 MEDIA BIAS AWARD
CNN: "... at a shootout at the Courthouse yesterday..."
FLORIDA: THE NEW FAT JOKE
MSNBC: "I mean, why didn't he just take the car and go to Florida or something?"
LEAST IMPROVED: CNN
Though it's happening in their very backyard (Atlanta), CNN was the last of the three to get a live video feed from the capture site this morning.
They started pandering to conservatives, paraded out the blond hotties to read news to me, bought into the "arguing is reporting" misnomer, and they are still in decline. What's going on?
I miss CNN.
Oh yeah, and they used the identical photo to represent nuclear plants in Iran and North Korea on their website.
